Tip #3 A good night sleep

Its a kind of right of passage for your child not to wake up in the middle of the night.  Well what worked for me with both children is the Ferber method. My daughter's doctor told us about it when she was 6months old.  She told us there was no need for her to be waking up in the middle of the night.  We did the same for my son and he has not woke up in the middle of the night since he was 7months.  I think it works well.  Some parents can not stand hearing their baby cry for one second let alone 5+mins but you have to been strong in order for it to work and if not there is no need to even bother.
In short:
  • Start a routine.
  • Lay the baby down to sleep at the same time ever night
  • For the first night go in there every 5mins.  Do not talk to your baby of fuss over him/her just go in there rock them until he/she stops crying then lay them right back down
  • Do that until your baby goes to sleep.  I never said this was easy
  • The next day lay them down at the time you decided the night before.
  • Lay them down and then go in there after five minutes.
  • The next time you go in there wait for 10 minutes to pass.
  • Then go in there every 10 minutes until your child goes to sleep.
  • The next day lay him/her down after 5 minutes then 10minutes then 15minutes.
  • After 15minutes you continue to go in there ever 15minutes.
  • For the next day you go up to 20 minutes.
  • Then you will go to 25minutes this is the max.
If all goes well it will take your baby less then 2weeks to sleep through the night.  And you will be able to just lay them down awake and they will go to sleep on their own. no rocking them to sleep anymore.
Hopefully this will work for you like it worked for me.  If you have any further questions you can comment below and I will answer to the best of my ability.
